Magnum during his echocardiogram (ECHO) on September 16, 2020

Magnum before the broviac procedure, in recovery and after the procedure. He was given a special stuffed animal that also has a broviac so it looks like him.

Magnum with Grandma at the beach before arriving at the hospital on October 24, 2020.
Day -13: Magnum’s first day at UCSF; getting set up and settled into their “home” for the next several weeks.

Day -12 (pt. 1): Magnum making dinosaur eggs out of play dough; his favorite way to sleep; enjoying a popsicle; more resting while watching a movie; color time. In the midst of these moments, chemo started.

Day -12 (pt. 2): Little Gecko Magnum! He loves playing with the magnetiles and perching on the windowsill to watch all the cars, cranes and people below. Precious boy!

Day -12 (pt. 3): Our precious Magnum developed side effects to the chemo (fever, hives, throwing up). Poor little guy! He is such a fighter and so resilient!

Day -11: Magnum had to be moved to PICU due to the side effects he was experiencing from chemo.

Day -10: Mama and her Mighty Magnum, conquering this battle together!; Magnum being silly; So many tubes/lines for such a little guy.

Day -9: Magnum (and Tashina) were so happy to be out of PICU and back in the transplant unit. Enjoying popcorn on the windowsill while watching the outside activity. Joyful and playing with one of his favorite toys.

Day -8: Magnum had some music therapy today and they decorated their room with pictures, cards and encouragements. First chemo done, day of rest!

Day -7: The medical team did reverse trick-or-treat for the kids in the transplant unit. Magnum loves Frozen and got to dress up as Olaf. Cutest snowman EVER!

Day -5: Staying entertained with play dough and practicing his doctor skills.

Day -4: Precious boy, precious mama!!!

Day -3: Lots of resting and playing today while enjoying goodies from a care package.

Day -2: Our Mighty Magnum…still smiles and playing. God is good! Transplant day is almost here!

Day -1: CHEMO IS FINISHED!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

TRANSPLANT DAY!!!: The last picture was when he stood up, stomped his feet and swung his arms saying, “”T-REX ME, YOU GO WAY!”.

Day +1: Poor little man does not like the feeding tube. Praying it is not needed for long.

Day +2: Magnum was pretty worn out today, but he was very happy to spend some time with Grandma.

Day +3: Our joy boy was feeling more himself today and Grandma was able to switch with mom again. What a blessing!

Oh the many silly faces of a little boy so full of joy and energy as he is enjoying life to its fullest!

Many of Magnum’s hobbies include going to the beach, visiting aquariums, getting his hair cut, smiling, riding his bike, visiting the pumpkin farm, seeing the dentist, smiling, playing baseball, building with MagnaTiles, mini golfing, smiling, Nerf wars, looking at Christmas lights, playing in the snow, shopping for more cars, smiling, eating donuts with “kid coffee” (chocolate milk), running, dressing up in costumes, smiling, riding horses, gymnastics, posing for the camera, oh and did I mention SMILING!

One of the last pics of Magnum with Daddy, we stopped by the beach on our way home from one of his appointments at UCSF. Thank you, LORD, for giving us that time. Magnum wanted to share how he felt about his Daddy and Papa at their memorial services. One of the special pics of Magnum with Papa, their faces are the same. They were contemplating the devotional Papa had just shared with us one of the Sundays we couldn’t go to church due to Magnum’s compromised immune system. Papa used to buy Magnum airplanes and jets. It was their special thing. This is the last one Papa bought for him. Unfortunately, Papa passed away before he could give it to Magnum, so when he got it for his birthday he decided to keep it forever…safe in it’s box to remember his Papa.

Life can be exhausting!!! Magnum never fails to enjoy his sleep in any position he is in. These are a few of my favorite ones that I have. My absolute favorite is the praying hands while sleeping. (the flash from my camera woke him up after I took the pic…oops!)

Christmas Tree rash brought on by COVID. Thankfully, it was not itchy or painful for him.

Magnum got to go on his first airplane ride to visit Aunt Tiana and Uncle Michael. While there, he swam in a freezing cold pool, visited a huge petting zoo and safari land drive thru park where he got to feed a buffalo. Aunt Tiana also took him to Dinosaur World. Magnum was in awe at how big the dinosaurs were and he knew most of their names! He also got to hike about 3miles and perched on top of a tall rock to show off his :Super Gecko Muscle Powers” and took in about a quarter of the donut that was twice the size of his head!!! Magnum ended the trip with a park adventure where he posed on the top of the playground with his “crew”.

Some pics of Magnum and his family. He loves to hang out with Grandma and his Uncle Sam and Uncle Micah. They have become a real big influence in Magnum’s life since the passing of Daddy and Papa. However, put Magnum with his brother, Remi, and his sister, Cadee, and you have the “Cute Crew”. They get into mischief, have adventures, play hard, do shenanigans, and love each other all day, everyday.

September 9, 2023, the Make-A-Wish Wines and Wishes Gala was an extremely awesome and overwhelmingly touching event. We were invited to attend so that Magnum could be presented with the news that his wish to be a fireman for a day would be granted. He says the reason he wants to be a fireman is because he will be able to help people and rescue them and ride on a fire truck. Magnum got to be the star of the show. He even got to put his hand print on a painting that was painted by performance painter David Garibaldi. Magnum is the 10.000th wish to be granted in the Sacramento area. For his wish day, Magnum helped mommy design his t-shirt that bears the name of his website as well as a bible verse that speaks to how GOD has brought Magnum (and his family) through waters, rivers, fire and flame but has never once left them, nor overflowed them, nor burned them, nor scorched them. GOD has only refined them and washed away the weaknesses and rough edges with each trial. Magnum is a walking miracle and testimony of GOD’s provision and love…I believe HE is not done using Magnum and his story to further HIS kingdom.
